Online images, messages spur election label sales

Election labels are a natural (and traditional) avenue for spreading ideas, views and philosophies. While online presence via political tweets, posts, and websites is a mainstay of today’s political presence, election labels continue to shine as a way to spread the word through grassroots channels. Those channels can range from rallies to rear bumpers, laptops to lunch boxes.

One presidential candidate already has declared allegiance to the venerable bumper sticker. A recent article in TheWeek.com trumpeted the news: “Donald Trump’s plan to turn New York red in November? Bumper Stickers.”

The article notes, “Carl Paladino, the campaign's co-chair in New York and the 2010 gubernatorial nominee, said they will also rely on conventional get-out-the-vote efforts and blanketing the upstate region with signs and bumper stickers.”

“We’re already seeing orders heat up, and we’re gearing up for an onslaught, particularly as the dates of national conventions and November elections draw closer and the rhetoric heats up to potentially historic proportions,” notes Mike Gore, VP Operations. “More than ever before, we see demand for election labels as spur-of-the-moment reactions to messages coming from the other side of the fence. It will be an intriguing war of words.”

He adds, “Our expanded capabilities due to recent strategic partnerships give our distributors more robust sales opportunities with their customers, in the durability, variable data/imaging, and fast turnaround areas especially. And, as always, we’re easily scalable for short, medium or long runs.”

Here are some ways Discount Labels is recommending that distributors can encourage customers to go for bumper labels and other types of election labels when they think “election:”

  1. Fundraisers. The Detroit Free Press reports that a University of Michigan fan has created and is selling bumper stickers touting Coach Jim Harbaugh as Trump’s VP candidate. Notes the Free Press, “Frank Allen, a Florida resident and owner of Boomerz Magazine, created the [Trump-Harbaugh Trump 2016] bumper sticker and is selling them for $10 each…with 50% of proceeds going toward the ChadTough Foundation [for pediatric cancer cure].”
  2. Thought-provokers. Many people can be persuaded to channel their inner rage, outer support, turn of phrase and more with election label zingers. A recent US News & World Report article recalls one such label, pointing out that George H. W. Bush “exhorted voters during his re-election campaign to act on the bumper-label slogan: ‘Annoy the Media: Re-elect Bush.’”
  3. Versatility. Election labels show well in many places, including campaign direct mail packets, window displays, rally handouts, and thank-you packages to donors and volunteers.

To get customers engaged around bumper labels/election labels, Gore suggests that distributors ask a few defining questions around such issues as readability (static versus mobile viewing), ease of adhesive removal post-election, and desire for a variety of looks through variable imaging at no extra charge.
